My dog Chevy is entering his senior years soon and starting to slow down a bit. Seeing those grey hairs around his muzzle is a bittersweet reminder that our time together is precious.
That’s why I started a “dog bucket list,” and I want to share it with you all. It includes things we can do with our dogs—a blend of new adventures and appreciating simple joys—while we still have the time.

Make homemade dog treats together. Try using stuff you usually have in your pantry that is safe for dogs, like peanut butter (in moderation) and pumpkin. Let them be part of the process—it can be fun!

Make a silly video starring your dog. Have fun recreating viral videos with them. Maybe they don’t understand what’s happening, but if we are having fun, they can sense that we are happy, and they will also enjoy themselves.
Since recording videos with my dog, Chevy, I have had the best time. Honestly, if we go viral or make money from it, that will be more than fine. But I do it for the laughs and to keep the memories.

13. Give your dog your undivided attention
Most of the time, we want to create incredible experiences, go to amazing places, and get our dogs to join us. But trustfully, we are all they need.
These are the things that should also be on your dog bucket list.
- Take that extra walk: You meant to anyway, right?
- Give them their favorite treats and meals: Life is too short to save the treats; eating it is their love language.
- Snuggle session extraordinaire: Forget about chores for a while and pile onto the couch for cuddles and belly rubs.
- Play one more game: If your dog can do it, play Fetch or Tug-of-war. Whatever their favorite is – give it all you’ve got.
- Tell them all the best things: Whisper all the secrets, the praises, the silly nicknames…anything to hear a happy little woof in return.
