Rescue Dog Essentials Shopping Guide 🛍️
CONGRATS FOR YOUR RESCUE BABY!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Ok ok ok I’m making you a list of essentials RIGHT NOW because I remember being SO overwhelmed when I brought Chevy home.
The Non-Negotiables:
Dog food – ask the shelter what they’re eating!! Switch gradually or hello tummy troubles 💩
Food bowls!! But get a slow feeder bowl – rescues inhale food like it’s their last meal 😅 Don’t forget the water bowl!
For Decompression (SO important):
Wire crate with a cozy cover, they need a cave to hide in to decompress.
Get a calming dog bed or orthopedic bed that fits IN the crate.
Walking Essentials:
You need a 6ft leash (NOT retractable yet), a sturdy leash is what you need now.
Get an ID tag with YOUR info immediately!! This engraved tags are kinda cute.
BTW don’t go crazy buying dog toys yet – you don’t know what they like! Chevy was scared of squeaky toys for MONTHS 😅
Final Thoughts on Rescue Dog Names
Whether you choose one of these dog names that mean second chance or dog names that mean lucky or blessed, or even if you just look at them and think “You look like a Bob,” what matters is that you’re giving them what every dog deserves – a name said with love.
