soul dog

My soul dog is turning 10 this year. I adopted him when he was 6. Most of the time when I’m looking at him, I’m thinking:

Why Didn’t I Find You Earlier?

What I was doing?

I wish I had found you before so we would have had more time together.

Why I didn’t find you before? What was I doing? What was I thinking?

I wish I had found you before so I would have seen your puppy eyes and seen you grow up.

I wish I had found you before, my soul dog, so you would spend more time loving me, and I would spend more time loving you.

Why didn’t I find you before?

He looks into my eyes, really deep, and I can see myself tiny in there. I think I know what he is thinking:

It doesn’t matter we didn’t find ourselves before. We have the rest of our lives together.

Here is a sweet video I saw the other day, and it reminds me of my soul dog.
